US-headquartered data center company Serverfarm, a subsidiary of Serverfarm, LLC, has recently appointed a new vice president of colocation to lead the business in Europe.

The role has been secured by former CEO of Datacenter.com, Jochem Steman who has been tasked with leading the company’s colocation services across some of most critical data center markets in Europe, including Amsterdam, where Serverfarm owns and operates facilities.

Serverfarm said it has developed this position in response to the growing need for colocation spurred by the pandemic.

According to a recent report, the European colocation market is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 13% from 2021 to 2028.

In this interview, Steman talks through what it is like to start an executive role in the middle of a pandemic and he also discusses the current state of the European data center market and the next landing locations for Serverfarm as the company continues to invest in its expansion across both sides of the Atlantic.
